Ashoka Shak Dundee

Ashoka Shak is the Dundee branch of the Ashoka group, the long-established Scottish Indian restaurant chain, and trades from a sit-down unit inside the Camperdown Leisure Park complex on the western edge of the city. The leisure park also houses the Dundee Ice Arena and the Cineworld multiplex, and the Shak draws most of its dinner trade from cinema-goers and pre- or post-skate diners, alongside group bookings from the surrounding suburbs.

The format is sit-down rather than carry-out: a full Indian diner menu running through classic curries, balti specialities, tandoori platters and sharing options designed for groups, with set menus and Itison-style deals appearing through the year. The Shak has held a Camperdown Park position for more than two decades — its own group history dates the Dundee opening to 2003 — and has picked up Scottish Curry Awards nominations during that time. Reviews on TripAdvisor and OpenTable describe a busy, family-friendly room with quick service at peak; the chicken chasni and the tandoori mixed grill are the dishes most often singled out. Inside a retail park rather than on a high street, the Shak remains one of the more reliable mid-range Indian destinations in DD2.
