Royal Tandoori

Royal Tandoori sits on Balmoral Terrace, the short parade off Balmoral Avenue in the Douglas housing scheme on the eastern flank of Dundee, a few doors along from the better-known Punjab Tandoori that has dominated this stretch for years. The shop runs a mainline Indian takeaway menu — the standard curry range from korma through to vindaloo, tandoori starters, biryanis and a chef's specials column — and competes within the tight Balmoral Terrace cluster largely on price and on the loyalty of regulars in the surrounding Douglas streets. Trade is overwhelmingly delivery and collection, with no real sit-down service from this end of the parade, and the catchment runs out through the Douglas, Mid Craigie and Linlathen housing east of the Kingsway. The shop is one of the smaller operators in the east-Dundee curry market and runs alongside the broader Pakistani-Indian provision that has built up around Albert Street, Dura Street and the Forfar Road. Reviews are limited but the shop holds a regular trade among the Balmoral and Pitkerro Road residents.
