For years it traded as The Golden Dragon, and the current operator — running it as Chen's Chinese Takeaway — is from the same family. Reviewers describe the food as honest and consistent rather than ambitious, with portion sizes that match the prices. The most recent published Food Standards inspection (February 2023) flagged "Improvement Required", which the operator has addressed; locals continue to use it as their default west-side Chinese. The shop's evening-only trading and limited weekly hours give it a clear regular-customer rhythm.
