Ashmaan Tandoori

The Ashmaan has been feeding Linlithgow since 1984, making it one of the oldest Indian restaurants in West Lothian. The founding family brought Punjabi Pakistani cooking to the town long before the genre became commonplace, and the kitchen has always emphasised authenticity over shortcuts. It is a dry restaurant — no alcohol is served — where the food takes full attention: naan bread cooked fresh in the tandoor, chicken tikka, vindaloo built from properly toasted whole spices, and a south Indian tikka masala with cashew rice that TripAdvisor reviewers return to repeatedly. The Mill Road premises sit near the Union Canal, a short walk from the High Street. A recent renovation has refreshed the interior without changing the ethos.
