Al Khaleej

Al-Khaleej on Hyde Park Road has been bringing Gulf and North African cooking to the student neighbourhood since 2013, originally conceived as a taste of home for Leeds University students from the Middle East. The kitchen spans a wide range of Arabic and Moroccan preparations: mandi (slow-cooked rice with meat), kabsa, and maqlooba sit alongside Moroccan tagines and couscous dishes prepared with preserved lemons, olives, and fresh herbs. Mezze boards feature falafel, sambosas, and lentil soup. Desserts run to baklawa and kanafeh. Delivery covers multiple Leeds postcodes, and the full lamb mandi — needing advance notice — is something of a showpiece dish.
