About Syhiba Takeaway
Syhiba has been cooking Punjabi and Pakistani food in Sowerby Bridge since 1996, starting as a modest takeaway on Wharf Street and growing over two decades into one of the most substantial Indian restaurants in the Upper Calder Valley. Chef Suhail Akhtar Hanif's cooking centres on slow-cooked Punjabi techniques: the lamb shank is braised with garlic, ginger, tomatoes and green chillies then finished with fresh coriander, and the karahi is built from fifteen herbs and spices with fresh aromatics rather than paste shortcuts.
The restaurant expanded into its current larger premises in 2013 and now seats over 160 covers. It is BYOB, carries no alcohol licence, and the full menu is halal-certified. A Visit Calderdale listed destination and consistent presence in Halifax-area curry recommendations. Open from late afternoon daily, with later closing at weekends.
