La Porchetta Islington

La Porchetta Islington is the Upper Street branch of a much-loved family-run Italian group with restaurants across London -- also in Camden, Clerkenwell, Finsbury Park and Holborn. All in London calls it "easily one of the best pizzerias in London," particularly recommending the Calzone Verde, and notes that all breads are freshly made in-house using their own flour for the pizza dough. The Islington branch sits on Upper Street within easy reach of Highbury and Islington and Essex Road stations.

The menu covers all the Italian favourites: Neapolitan-style pizzas in a wide range of classic and seasonal combinations, fresh pasta, antipasti including deep-fried baby mozzarella and large marinated olives from the Belice Valley, arancini, and tiramisu. A well-chosen Italian wine list and cold Italian beers. Open evenings Monday to Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday.
